Deep Sea Development Section
- Assess, recommend and implement policy applications and procedures for deep marine fishing vessels and equipment.
- Propose, evaluate, implement and monitor new policies, procedures and regulations as well as revisions/amendments related to deep marine licensing.
- To plan, coordinate, evaluate, implement and monitor programmes/projects related to deep marine fisheries development.
- Implement, evaluate and monitor deep marine licensing through the e-Lesen system and special physical inspection of vessels.
- To plan the development and implementation of international programmes/projects involving deep marine development.
- Evaluate vessel monitoring programmes for deep marine fisheries through Vessel Monitoring System (VMS), Vessel Operations Report (LOV) and C2 (SPVC2) vessel monitoring system.
- Coordinate deep marine fisheries licensing information and data.
- Coordinate, evaluate and monitor legalisation/inspectorate activities for deep marine fishing vessels.
- Coordinate, evaluate and provide information and feedback or compliance reports related to deep marine fisheries at the departmental, ministry, agency and international levels.
- Coordinate, implement and evaluate industry consultation/consultation programmes with stakeholders related to deep marine fisheries.
Licensing Section
- Propose, evaluate, implement and monitor new policies, procedures and regulations as well as revisions/amendments pertaining to the licensing of coastal fisheries and genuine fishermen.
- To plan, coordinate, evaluate, implement and monitor matters pertaining to coastal fisheries development.
- To plan the development and implementation of international programmes/projects involving coastal fisheries.
- Implement, evaluate and monitor coastal fisheries licensing through the e-Lesen system.
- Coordinate and implement vessel monitoring programmes for coastal fisheries through the installation of vessel monitoring devices.
- Coordinate, evaluate and monitor fisheries certification of capture fisheries for export purposes.
- Coordinate coastal fisheries licensing information and data.
- Coordinate, implement and evaluate industry consultation/consultation programmes with stakeholders pertaining to coastal fisheries.
- Coordinate, evaluate and monitor inspection activities for coastal fishing vessels.
Conservation & Recreational Section
- Propose, evaluate, implement and monitor new policies, procedures and regulations as well as revisions/amendments related to the conservation of marine resources and marine recreational fisheries.
- To plan, coordinate, evaluate, implement and monitor matters pertaining to the development of marine resources conservation and marine recreational fisheries.
- To plan the development and implementation of international programmes/projects involving the conservation of marine resources and marine recreational fisheries.
- Coordinate, evaluate and monitor the construction and anchoring activities.
- Evaluate the monitoring programme of the effectiveness of resource conservation through artificial reef activities.
- Coordinate, evaluate and monitor turtle management and conservation programmes in Peninsular Malaysia.
- Develop, implement and evaluate the development of the marine recreational fishing industry.
Tuna Development Section
- Propose, evaluate, implement and monitor new policies, procedures and regulations as well as relevant revisions/amendments on licensing.
- To plan, coordinate, evaluate, implement, monitor programmes/projects pertaining to development under the 11th Malaysia Plan related to tuna fisheries management.
- To plan, coordinate and implement international programmes/projects involving the Tuna Industry.
- Implement, evaluate and monitor tuna licensing activities.
- Assess and monitor the operational activities of fishing vessels in the high seas and landings of tuna through VMS log book reporting and inspection of vessels during landings.
- Implement, evaluate and monitor the Tuna Industry chain development programme.
- Coordinate compliance with IOTC resolutions and international and domestic laws.
- Coordinate licensing information and data.
- Coordinate, implement and evaluate industry consultation/consultation programs with stakeholders related to the Tuna Industry.
- Carry out tuna vessel licensing inspection activities in Penang and Labuan.
- Coordinate and prepare the IOTC reporting.
